The earthly ministry of Jesus Christ has ended, and his post-resurrection ministry comes to a close, and as the Day of Pentecost approaches the men who had spent the most time with Jesus wondered if it was time for the Kingdom of Heaven and the glory of Christ as the King of a restored nation of Israel.
When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
This was not a foolish question but followed some of the prophecies concerning Israel from the Old Testament. The suffering of the Christ, the bruising of the heel of the Seed of the Woman, had just taken place and they were aware that after the sufferings was the glory when the head of the adversary would be bruised.
1 Peter 1:10-11
Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
The Old Testament prophets searched the Word of God trying to determine what took place between the sufferings and the glory. It was as though they could see a mountain range immediately in front of them and a larger range just beyond those first mountains. What was going to take place between these mountain ranges? How great was the valley or the span of time between these two ranges?
What happens between those mountain ranges is the Revealing Administration and what will become the Administration of Grace. But today, we are only dealing with the Revealing Administration. This administration has also been referred to as the time of tribulation and the day of wrath. Both the tribulation and the wrath are a part of this administration but we have chosen to call it the Revealing Administration because from the beginning unto the end of this administration the focus is revealing that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.
The point of transition from the Christ Administration to the Revealing Administration is Jesus Christ himself.
1 Corinthians 15:3-8
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.
These do not account for all of the resurrection appearances of Jesus Christ and it doesn’t claim to be an exhaustive list of appearances. After his resurrection, but before his appearance before God as the High Priest after the order of Melchisedec, Jesus appears to Mary in the garden. Later, in Luke 24, he is found walking and talking with two others on the road to Emmaus. Jesus opened up this time of transition with him revealing himself as the Son of God.
Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
By his physical lineage Jesus was of David’s line but when God raised Jesus from the dead he is declared to be the Son of God.
For forty days after his resurrection Jesus appeared to and taught his disciples preparing them for the times that were coming. He worked with Peter concerning the care of Israel, his sheep.
So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
The nation of Israel had been compared to sheep throughout the Old Testament and even after the resurrection of Christ they are still compared to sheep with Christ as their shepherd.
1 Peter 2:25
For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
1 Peter 5:1-4
The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
Jesus Christ is the shepherd of Israel, the great shepherd and chief shepherd. He wanted the twelve, as shepherds under the direction of Peter, to take care of his sheep, Israel. Jesus Christ trained the twelve to minister to Israel.
Some think that the twelve were sent to the Gentiles to begin the Church of the Body of Christ but the Church during the Administration of Grace is still unknown to all but God. When it is time God will reveal the gospel of grace to the Apostle Paul but at this point in time, Acts chapter 1, that gospel remains unknown. However, when God does make known the doctrine for the Administration of Grace the believers of that administration will never be referred to as sheep.
It’s easy to see that Jesus Christ is preparing his disciples to enter the time of tribulation and the day of wrath because of what he is teaching his disciples prior to his arrest and crucifixion.
And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
The word translated world, aion, would be better translated age. The disciples asked what will be a sign the age, or administration, is ending and he is returning.
Jesus knows his hour has come. He knows the time of his earthly ministry is almost over and he begins to teach his disciples about the days ahead that they will face. So Jesus teaches his disciples about the days of tribulation spoken of in Daniel.
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.
“All of these are the beginning of sorrows” not the end, not the worst, it will be only the beginning! Mankind thinks they have seen the worst man can do to man. Many think we have already seen the time of tribulation that Jesus is speaking of in these verses. Those who think this way have been deceived because they believe in the goodness of man.
Others believe the tribulation is still ahead of us and so they are storing food and guns and ammunition. These have been deceived into thinking that man can win a spiritual battle with physical weapons. If nothing else, natural man is foolishly arrogant.
For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Man has never encountered the death and destruction that will take place in the Revealing Administration. Man looks at the horror of World War II and the concentration camps and thinks the world could do no worse but World War II is nothing compared to what is coming; for it is during the Revealing Administration that The Anti-Christ will be the ruler of the earth and he is coming in the full potential power of his father, the Devil.
Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Not only will every nation in the world turn against Israel but even Israeli’s will betray one another to the spiritual powers running the governments of the world. The world will be engulfed in fear and where there is fear, you cannot have love (1 John 4:18).
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
When Israel sees the abomination of desolation spoken of in Daniel they should get out of town, NOW! Mankind has never even conceived of the evil that will come out of this man, evil that he learned in the presence of his father.
And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up…
2 Thessalonians 2:3-4
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away (departure) first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God (as God does not appear in the text) sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
THE Antichrist will stand in the Temple and declare that he is God. When you see this Jesus said, “flee to the mountains”.
And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:
Some like to interpret this as a virgin and child but the context does not share that interpretation. The woman is put for the nation of Israel and the twelve stars are put for the twelve tribes of Israel.
And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
The abomination of desolation is set up in the Temple three and a half years into a seven year treaty the Antichrist has made with Israel. 1,260 days is three and a half years by the Jewish calendar of 360 days per year.
And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week (seven years): and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
In the “midst of the week” is the middle of a seven year span of time. From the context of Daniel chapter 9 weeks are put for years. Some of Israel will heed the warning of Jesus Christ and get out of town. But most, two-thirds, will not obey.
And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.
For three and a half years God will lead the one third of Israel that has obeyed. Just as Israel was challenged during their forty years in the wilderness, both by the elements and by different tribes of people, this one-third, this remnant of believers will be challenged; this one-third will have to endure.
And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time (put for the three and a half years of Daniel), from the face of the serpent.
In Matthew 24 Jesus is preparing his disciples for the great tribulation spoken of in the Old Testament. Remember the Church during the Grace Administration is still a secret. There is nothing in the Old Testament concerning the time of grace that is to come or it wouldn’t be a secret! These are words addressed to Israel and they are about Israel.
The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish. The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.
Nothing has ever taken place on the earth that can be compared to the destruction and devastation that will come in this age before Christ returns. When this time of tribulation ends with the return of Jesus Christ, there will only be a few men left alive. As in the days of Noah mankind will walk away from the One True God while accepting the Antichrist as their god. The unbelief of the people allows the curse that began back in the days of Adam to run its course and eat up the earth.
The Revealing Administration begins on the Day of Pentecost and continues up to Acts chapter thirteen. At this time God holds His walk with the nation of Israel in abeyance while He has the Apostle Paul open the Administration of Grace. At the conclusion of the Administration of Grace the Revealing Administration will re-start and the darkest days on earth will come to pass.
