The Love of God in the Renewed Mind in Manifestation
While driving somewhere another driver cuts you off or decides to drive twenty miles an hour below the speed limit when you are in a hurry. Do you act in accordance to the situation or continue to let your mind be ruled by the Word of Christ?

Too often believers move in a reactive state rather than an active state. By that I mean, we fail to act according to who we are spiritually verses reacting to the circumstances, situations, and the people around us. Even when doing the will of God life is challenging, for the world does not know our Father nor care about your walk in love.

Colossians 3:16a
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom…

As children of God we should never allow the world to dictate how we behave or how we think. If your heart was at peace and filled with joy when that other driver cut you off, then you should be able to remain at peace and continue to be filled with joy by quickly assigning the rudeness of the other driver its proper place and level of importance, which is meaningless and inconsequential.

Either personally, or from Hollywood movies, we have all seen the person who has had too much to drink stepping and moving from one side to the other while endeavoring to move in a forward direction. Believers who react and respond from their carnal nature to the daily situations that confront you are like that person who has had too much to drink. Spiritual growth and progress is impeded as the old carnal nature is indulged excessively. The walk in love becomes erratic and inconsistent at best.

How important is it to walk in the love of God in our renewed minds?

1 Corinthians 13:1-3
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

Speaking in tongues is the believers proof in the senses world that he is indeed a child of God. That places great importance upon speaking in tongues. But without the love of God in our walk, even speaking in tongues is like a useless noise. So, how important is it to walk in the love of God in our renewed minds?

1 Corinthians 8:1
Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.

Edifieth is the Greek word oikodomeo and means to build up. It's great to have knowledge and to share that knowledge with another. But if it is done without agapee love the other person isn't built up and that leaves the purpose of knowledge wasted.

Romans 13:8
Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loveth [agapao - verb form of agapee] another hath fulfilled the law.

How many Christians have been duped into thinking they need to fulfill the Law of Moses by following the Old Testament? Yet here we learn that walking in love fulfills the law.

Romans 13:9
For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love [agapao] thy neighbour as thyself.

How powerful does this verse make walking in love? Too many focus on laws from the Old Testament yet the Old Testament doesn't speak of agapee love. For believers in the Age of Grace the key to manifested power is the love of God in the renewed mind for it is love that energizes believing.

1 Corinthians 13:13
And now abideth faith, hope, charity [agapee], these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Faith is the Greek word pistis and should be translated the right way of believing. Hope is our anchor, it keeps the ship where we want it to be, ensuring or maintaining its position. When the world wants to push a believer off the words of God our hope in the return of God's son keeps us set in place, standing firm upon God's Word. It's not just a storm that will move a ship out of position, for the common current of a calm sea will move a ship from its safe harbor. Yet greater than the right way of believing, greater than anticipating the return of God's son is the love of God in the renewed mind.

1 Corinthians 16:14
Let all your things be done with charity [agapee].

"All things" not some, not most, but all. Walking in love is the lifestyle of a child of God.

Ephesians 5:2
And walk in love [agapee], as Christ also hath loved [agapao] us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

With every action he took, with every word that he spoke, Jesus Christ demonstrated the love of God. It wasn't dependent upon how another acted toward him. It wasn't based upon what another could do for him. It was rooted and grounded in his relationship with his Heavenly Father and the will of his Heavenly Father. Being a perfect natural man, with God's holy spirit upon him, it was the natural state of Jesus to walk in love. It was how he was designed by his nature and how he disciplined his life to respond to the spirit.

Colossians 3:14
And above all these things put on charity [agapee], which is the bond of perfectness.

What are "these things"?

Colossians 3:10-14
And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

The world does not see God but they can see you. As His child do you manifest the qualities within you that speak of your Heavenly Father or the attributes that define you as simply another human who is concerned mostly about himself?

1 John 4:12
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love [agapao] one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love [agapee] is perfected [brought to maturity or completeness] in us.

People do not see God but they can see those who say they are God's.

John 1:18
No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

How Jesus Christ lived his life allowed others to see the heart of God. Jesus declared God not only in his words but also in his actions and manner of life. Had Jesus done anything to deserve the hate of the religious leaders of his day and time? Yet he never responded to them with the venom the world teaches. When he returns as Lord of lords and King of kings his intent isn't to get even for how he was treated.

His walk was outlined and defined by the words of God rather than the egotistic foolishness of the world. Even on the cross, as he gave his life to be the ultimate sacrifice, the thieves crucified with him mocked him and ridiculed him. One of the malefactors that was crucified with him also joined the crowd to mock and ridicule. Three of the four moved with ridicule, but the other malefactor declared the innocence of Jesus and rebuked the other malefactor that mocked, it was to him that Jesus responded and he responded in love. In the hour of his agony Jesus declared the grace, the mercy, and the love that his Father has for all of mankind. We always have a choice as to what we will focus on in our lives. Jesus chose to focus on the open doors to manifest the heart of his Father.

Although Jesus always acted in love the people did not always receive his love. The same will be true for all those who will follow in the steps laid out for a believer in the words of God. But again, we are not to walk in love because of how we are treated or because of what another can do for us. We walk in love because it is who we are in Christ. We walk in love to make known the heart of our Father.

Romans 5:5
And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

God has created holy spirit within each of us. As we walk in that spirit His love is poured out in our hearts. It's who we are, the inner man is the real man, the true identity of every believer.

The world does not like those who are God's children. The world does not like those who believe God because this world system has been set up and is administered by God's enemy, the Devil. What the Devil desires to accomplish is declared in its simplest form in the Gospel of John.

John 10:10a
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:

The Devil is a thief because he stole the oversight of this world through deceit and guile. While saying one thing, he meant something else entirely. He continues in the same vein as pertaining to the lives of every man, woman, and child that has ever walked on the face of the earth. No matter what the system of the world may declare, the Devil is in this for himself, and only himself.

Matthew 4:8-9
Again, the devil taketh him [Jesus Christ] up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

The Devil knew God would make Jesus King of kings, he didn't dispute that point with Jesus but rather he offered Jesus an easier way to become the King of kings. Worship me and I'll give these things to you. Worship me and I'll lay these things in your lap. You don't have to be rejected, you don't have to sacrifice your life, you don't have to be beaten and tortured. You can have the same thing God offered you but you don't have to do it the hard way.

The Greek word translated "give" in verse nine is didomi and means to bestow as a gift, to give freely, to give into one's care, to pay or reward. The Devil endeavored to steal the ministry and purpose of the life of Jesus Christ by way of a lie, by way of subtlety. But Jesus Christ knew exactly what the Devil was trying to accomplish because Jesus knew the words of God. He knew the book of Ezra referred to the king of Persia, Artaxerxes, as king of kings and Artaxerxes kept his focus on the "God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem."

Jesus also knew of another man in the Bible who was described as "a king of kings" and Jesus could see how this man was deceived by the Devil.

Daniel 2:37-38
Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.

God had made Nebuchadrezzar, the king of Babylon, a king of kings with power, strength and glory. Yet Nebuchadrezzer forgot who had given him his kingdom and power, strength, and glory. He moved instead with the logic of the Devil and walked in great pride and ego until he lost his kingdom and was counted as no more than a beast of the field. There is no compromise or easy way with the Devil for he only seeks to steal, kill, and destroy.

Jesus Christ was obedient to the words of God and in so doing not only demonstrated his love for God but in obeying God's Word he demonstrated God's love for all of mankind. We also demonstrate our love for God by our obedience to His Word and we show forth God's love for mankind by the same act of obedience to His Word.

Let's consider a verse we read earlier.

Colossians 3:10
 And have put on…

"Put on" is the Greek word enduo and means to put on like clothing. Here it is in the middle voice so that the action we take comes back to benefit the one who is putting on.

the new man…

We put on this new man in two ways. First, we put the words of God in our minds. Specifically those words that are addressed to us in this administration while remembering that all of God's Word is for our learning. Second, we walk in the spirit. The new creation, God's gift of holy spirit created within each believer. God who is Spirit works within that spirit He has created within you, and you put it on by listening and obeying as that spirit gives you information and leads you. This is what we are putting on, like getting dressed every day. Daily we are to put on God's Word and daily we are to walk in the spirit.

which is renewed…

Passive voice and that means we aren't doing the work, we aren't straining to make this happen. God's words are energizing and life giving whether they are coming from the written Word or what is revealed to you by way of the spirit.

 in knowledge…

Where do we receive this knowledge? In our minds. Revelation knowledge, meaning word of knowledge and word of wisdom. This knowledge is epignosis and that means exact, precise knowledge from God. This revelation knowledge is added to the knowledge God has already provided for us in His written Word.

We have been fed knowledge from the system of the world since the day we were born. But it has not been epignosis knowledge. It has been knowledge that has been put through the filter of the one who governs this world system. Therefore we have road rage, getting even, a lack of forgiveness, lying, using others and all things that are contrary to God.

after the image of him that created him:

It was God who did the creating of the spirit within every believer. It is God's image that the world should see when it sees each believer.

The Word of God is life giving, and powerful, and has the power to separate the thoughts we have that come from the old man and thoughts we have coming from the new man. We put the Word in and it will begin to work. At the same time each believer has holy spirit and it too will work within us pouring out the love of God within the heart. In this manner your actions can line up with the spiritual person God has enabled you to become in your daily walk.

The passive voice by no means makes the renewed mind an easy endeavor. Like Nebuchadrezzer, staying focused on that Word is a full time job due to the multitude of distractions the Devil lays in front of all who would live godly. Consider the apostle Peter who walked on water, in a storm, until he took his focus off of Christ. The love of God in the renewed mind is a believers key to power and the stayed mind is the key to the renewed mind. Although it is a full time job, it is a job with awesome benefits that can be found in no other position in this world.

We will look at one verse of scripture that describes what the walk in love looks like. As these aspects of agapee love are viewed, consider the number of distractions the Devil can lay in front of a believer as he endeavors to walk in love. Consider the focus required on the part of the believer.

1 Corinthians 13:4
Charity [agapee] suffereth long, and is kind; charity [agapee] envieth not; charity [agapee] vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

Temperance is when we remain in control of our own passions and desires. Patience is when we endure situations and circumstances that we encounter in everyday life. Longsuffering, or suffereth long, is when we endure the mistakes, the wrong actions, the carnality of other people while remaining patient with that person. The Greek word is makrothumeo and is defined as being patient in bearing the offenses and injuries of others.

People make mistakes all the time, like the guy who wasn't thinking about you when he cut you off in traffic endangering both you and your family. The world calls for what is now commonly called road rage, getting your pound of flesh for the injustice done to you. God sees the incident as inconsequential and worthy of no more mental consideration.

The system of the world calls upon people to use another, and abuse another, and seek an open door to take advantage of any situation that will advance them, even at the expense of those around them. The system of the world has neither care nor concern for another person, for it follows the lead of its administrator. But a believer who has put the Word on, and allows the spirit within to work, will walk in love by being longsuffering.

Romans 2:4
Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

How many mistakes has God endured with your life? Not only before you turned to Him but even after you had turned to Him. He still loved us and still extended His love to us in providing salvation. When we fail to focus on Him after we have become a child of God He still loves us and continues to work within us to will and do of His good pleasure. This is longsuffering.

2 Corinthians 5:19
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

God didn't count our wrongs, our sin's against us while sending His son to reconcile us to Himself. In like manner a believer isn't here to count up the wrongs committed by other people. To do so would leave us no time to fellowship with our Heavenly Father.

1 Corinthians 13:4
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

"Kind" is the Greek word chresteuomai and is speaking about the character or nature of a person or the usefulness of a thing. Perhaps a good translation for the word "kind" would be the word gracious carrying with it the underlying understanding of being gracious by nature. Modern dictionaries define gracious as, "characterized by charm, good taste, generosity of spirit…" but the obsolete definition is simply "godly."

God set a standard and an order back in Genesis.

Genesis 1:12
And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:21
And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

The standard God set was that everything was to be after "its kind".

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

When a person becomes a believer God creates within that person His gift of holy spirit, that person becomes a new creation, a new kind. It is this new creation that we are to walk in, showing the character, the integrity, the excellence of the new kind of being God has enabled us to become as we stand as His children in this crooked and perverse world.

1 Corinthians 15:33
Be not deceived: evil communications [homilia - companionship, intercourse] corrupt good [chrestos - adjective] manners [ethos - custom].

We were men and women of the world and as such we walked according to its standard and its lack of character and integrity. Now we are men and women of God, with holy spirit created within, now our standard is the Word and Will of God. The character and integrity of this new creation is what we are to manifest as we walk forth in love. Our inner man is our new character, it is our new nature, we have been made a new kind.

The walk in agapee love is our nature just as it is the nature of God to love.

1 Corinthians 13:4
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

"Envieth not" comes from the word zeloo which means zeal in a good sense and envy or jealousy in a bad sense.

There are many things that each of us needs or wants in life. Sometimes it is a material thing like a new car or a new pair of shoes. Other times it is an innate good like the desire of parents for the success or well-being of their children, much like the Latin "summum bonum", meaning the "highest good". But the love of God never envies another who sees their needs or wants come to pass because we know we have a Father in Heaven that sees to and cares for all of our needs and wants. Notice I didn't say all of our greed's and lust's.

The system of the world looks around and becomes envious. Our new nature doesn't leave an open door for jealousy or envy, or for getting upset over the false victory of an unbeliever.

1 Corinthians 15:57-58
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Standing on God's Word, walking by the inner man, the new creation within, will always prove profitable for the child of God.

1 Corinthians 13:4
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

"Vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up." Puffed up comes before vaunting one's self. Everyone has seen a dog when he meets a larger dog and the hair on his back stands up. He is trying to make himself appear bigger because he is intimidated by the size of the other dog. The same behavior can be witnessed in the blow fish or the puff adder. It is a response based in fear.

People will only puff themselves up when they fear they aren't good enough or up to the challenge at hand. It is a fear based response. If we believe what God says about us in His Word then we have no need to be puffed up for we could never appear bigger than what God has already made us to be by creating spirit within. Yet challenges will come to the image God has declared of you.

Some thought Jesus to be a trouble maker, others thought him to be insane. Even his own family thought him to be crazy at one point in time. Some only came to hear Jesus teach thinking they would get a meal out of the deal. They tried to take advantage of what they saw as a weakness.

Someone stabs you in the back, trying to take advantage of what they perceive as weakness. You respond with the longsuffering of God, enduring the wrong. Like with Jesus, the world will voice opinions of you that are inaccurate and wrong. Upon which opinion will you choose to focus? God's opinion or the world's. The distractions are many and every day storms will arise with the intent of getting you to shift your focus off of Christ just like with Peter.

1 John 4: 18
There is no fear in love [agapee]; but perfect love [agapee] casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love [agapee].

Love has no fear and without fear there is no need to get puffed up. Who God has made us to be is more than enough. We have no need to become a blow fish!

Perpereuomai is the verb translated vaunteth and is in the middle voice usage of the word perperos, which comes from the Greek word peran and means to go beyond. In this context it means to go beyond what is true or accurate in light of yourself. It would be to brag or embellish.

In Italy there is a saying, "Un uomo che si pavoneggia", which roughly translates into, "A man who likes to strut around like a peacock." It refers to a man that is very full of himself. First comes the puffing up, then comes the vaunting, the strutting. It is all based upon fear and insecurity. Someone walking in love will not act in such an egotistical manner.

1 Corinthians 15:10a
But by the grace of God I am what I am:

All that is good in every man is from the inner man, the treasure God placed in an earthen vessel. As for the earthen vessel, there are not enough words in any language to make it worthy of being vaunted or praised. There is nothing to brag about when it comes to the old man nature and there is no need to brag about the new nature for it is by the grace of God.

A believers ability to walk in agapee love only comes from the inner man. It is not within the nature of our old man, the carnal man to walk in agapee. This truth can be seen from the reality that only believers with God in Christ in them can renew their minds, a natural man cannot renew his mind and without the renewed mind and God's spirit within, you cannot walk in agapee love.

Walking in love for a believer is to be understood as love after its kind. We are designed and equipped according to Him who created the spirit within us. If we allow the Word to dwell within our hearts and allow the spirit to lead us, all that we do will be in love. For we are the children of God who is Love.

Colossians 3:16-17
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
