Center of Reference for Truth
There are facts and there is Truth. They are not the same and they are not interchangeable. Facts are ever changing, and Truth is immutable. The world (kosmos) generally reverses these making facts immutable and Truth ever changing. The scientific facts of today will almost certainly change tomorrow. The Truth of God’s Word is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Every time you hear something, whether it’s only a noise or the spoken word; every time you see something, whether it’s watching television or a relaxing walk through nature; every time you read something, whether it’s an article in the print media or an explanation of scientific theory; your mind will judge, or gage, the information it is receiving against a standard you already hold in your mind.

What is the standard you use when your mind is so engaged?

Each individual needs to develop a steadfast, immutable belief that the Word of God is indeed the Will of God, and the only standard for believing and practical application. To have more than one standard will always produce confusion, for multiple standards will eventually and ultimately conflict. People, that have multiple centers of reference for Truth, will continue to get blown about by every wind of doctrine as they are seduced by destructive men, speaking enticing words that hide empty and meaningless traditions.

Matthew 4:4
But he answered and said, it is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Not some of God’s words; not the words you can find to back up your feelings; not carnal rationalizations of why you find God’s Word to be lacking!

Men can and do mishandle God’s Word, but the rightly divided Word of God is Truth.

“…by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.”

2 Timothy 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Paul wasn’t influenced by the culture of his day to write things out of his own imagination as some pulpits erroneously proclaim; Peter didn’t tell Mark what to write in his Gospel because Mark lacked details and needed cliff notes. Moses did not write the oral tradition of his day concerning what happened between the Creation of the heaven and the earth and the Exodus. These are all rationalizations of a carnal mind to give excuse and reason not to obey God in the face of social pressure.

The words, “given by inspiration of God,” is one Greek word, theopneustos; which is made up of two Greek words, theo, meaning God, and pneo which means to breath out. When you speak, you
breathe out. All scripture is God Breathed! God spoke to the writers of the Bible and they wrote. The emphasis is not man but God!

The Bible doesn’t tell you to live by the words of any Bible teacher or Bible scholar; the Bible never instructs you to live by what is on social media or what is trendy and popular; but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God! Check any concordance and you will find the word “theology” is not in the Word of God!

2 Peter 1:20-21
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

God worked with all of those who wrote the books in the Bible by way of His gift of holy spirit.

Galatians 1:11-12
But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

God, speaking by His gift of holy spirit, gave revelation (Greek – apokalypsis) to those who wrote His words. Apokalypsis means to uncover, to lay a thing bare that was covered, to reveal something that was unknown at that time.

What was unknown? What was covered?

The Word and Will of God.

What God revealed to these holy men of God was His heart of love for all of humanity; what God revealed was His plan of salvation and redemption; what God revealed was His plan to reconcile all of mankind back to Himself.

Any Christian who fails to develop an integrity for the words of God, will remain weak, anemic, and in the dark spiritually. It is only those who hold the integrity of God’s Word as their standard for Truth who will be able to withstand the deceptions of the world.

Jesus Christ was victorious every single time the world offered a standard other than the God-Breathed Word; he was victorious because he knew the Word of God. He was victorious because he always obeyed the words of God.

Romans 5:19
For as by one man's [Adam] disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one [Jesus] shall many be made righteous.

The choice belongs to everyone.

Believe the “facts” of the world or stand with the words God has spoken. From Adam until today, everyone has had that freedom.

Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Psalm 19:7-10
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
